The Open Database License (ODbL) allows us to further modify the data, print it, and commercially sell it as printed maps. Customers have the same rights — they may freely use, share, and commercially distribute the map as long as they retain the stated license and the attribution “© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL”.

The maps are created from open geographic data provided by the OpenStreetMap project.

License information:

What must be visible on the printed map:

  • “© OpenStreetMap contributors” — mandatory credit to the authors.
  • Information about the ODbL license — either “ODbL” or “Open Database License”.
  • Full URL: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright — OSMF explicitly states that printed materials must include the full address.

Commercial and Licensing Terms for the Sale of Printed Maps (Google License)

This document defines the conditions under which our e-shop is authorized to utilize a license from Google (limited to a maximum of 100,000 sold units).

Territorial Scope: All restrictions and conditions set forth below apply exclusively to customers located within the European Union (EU).

1. User Experience and Customer Services

  • Sign-In: The customer must have the option to log in during the checkout process using the "Sign in with Google" button.
  • Payment: The e-shop must enable payment processing via Google Pay.
  • Language Options: The customer must be provided with the option to switch the e-shop's user interface to English.
  • Artificial Intelligence Integration (Google Gemini): The customer has the option to purchase a premium assistance service powered by Google Gemini AI. This service generates customized suggestions, enhancements, and recommendations for points of interest on the map (e.g., recommended restaurants, shops, landmarks, and other targeted locations).
  • Approval Process: Upon completion of the order, a preview of all purchased maps must be displayed to the customer. The customer reserves the right to request modifications and must explicitly approve all maps prior to printing.
  • Customer Support: The e-shop is solely responsible for providing its own customer support.

2. Technical and Operational Requirements

  • Infrastructure: The e-shop operator must maintain an active subscription to a Google Workspace plan.
  • Account Management: Employee accounts must be managed under the primary organization (the e-shop's main Google account) and must strictly utilize two-factor authentication (2FA).
  • Asset Processing: The capturing of map assets must be executed exclusively within the Google Chrome browser. The final print assets must possess a resolution of between 200 and 300 DPI.
  • Map Content Protection: It is strictly prohibited to insert any supplementary content directly into the map (particularly harmful or illegal content, or content that violates intellectual property rights). The sole exception is a preview of the envelope, which may be placed in the right corner of the map.
  • Right of Modification: Google reserves the right to modify the final map prior to printing.

3. Copyright and Data Handling

  • Mandatory Attribution: Every printed map must feature the clearly legible text "Google" alongside the current copyright attribution text.

4. Financial Arrangements and Commissions

  • Maximum E-shop Commission: The maximum allowable commission (markup/margin) retained by the e-shop from the sale of a single Google map is capped at 100%.
  • Remittance to Google: The e-shop shall remit 25% of the profit from each sold map to the account of Google's Irish branch.
  • Physical Store Fund: One quarter (25%) of the e-shop's commission from each sold map must be mandatorily allocated (reserved) into a fund designated for the future opening of a physical retail store for customers.
  • Reporting: The e-shop commits to conducting regular sales reporting to monitor the 100,000-unit limit threshold.

5. Marketing Arrangements

  • Digital Marketing: Promotional offers from Google may be displayed within the order confirmation email.
  • Printed Marketing: If an order includes at least one Google map, printed marketing materials provided by Google may also be included in the physical packaging (shipment).

6. Personal Data Protection (GDPR) and Data Sharing

  • GDPR Compliance: Given the exclusive focus on customers located within the European Union, all collection and processing of personal data must strictly comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The e-shop is obligated to obtain verifiable consent from the customer for the processing of their data.
  • Data Transfer to Google: Due to the utilization of "Sign in with Google," "Google Pay," and the integration of the "Google Gemini" AI, essential transactional and location data is shared between the e-shop and Google. These data-sharing processes must be explicitly detailed in the e-shop's Privacy Policy.
  • Protection of AI Queries: Text and location queries submitted by the customer into the Google Gemini assistance service (for recommendations on restaurants, landmarks, etc.) are subject to privacy protections. The customer must be instructed not to include sensitive personal data (e.g., national identification numbers, health status details) in these queries. Furthermore, the e-shop must ensure that this data is not repurposed or misused for anything other than enhancing the ordered map.
Mapy.com

Our printed Mapy.com map may contain only the map layer itself – without the right‑side information panel, without buttons, and without any user interface elements.

Our voluntary contribution of 25% of the profit from each printed map follows these rules:

  • Czech Republic – the entire contribution is paid to Seznam.cz, the provider of Mapy.com map data.
  • Other countries – in regions where Mapy.com uses OpenStreetMap map data under the open ODbL license, we divide the contribution evenly into two parts: one part goes to the OpenStreetMap contributors, and the other part is intended for Seznam.cz.

We can deliver only the following types of map layers to the customer: Basic, Outdoor (Tourist), Winter, and Geographic maps.
The use of 3D maps and Panoramas is not permitted under the current licensing terms.

Our printed maps comply with the Terms of Use and Licensing Conditions of the Mapy.com service, particularly Section 4.a), which governs the permitted use of map screenshots in printed materials.

Section 4.e) – distribution under the CC‑BY‑SA 4.0 license

According to Section 4.e) of the Mapy.com licensing terms, map screenshots may also be distributed under the Creative Commons 4.0 (CC‑BY‑SA 4.0) license.

This means that a screenshot may be labeled with the CC‑BY‑SA 4.0 license, which allows:

  • further distribution,
  • modifications and remixing,
  • commercial use,
  • sharing under the same conditions (ShareAlike).

Terms of Use and Licensing Conditions of the Mapy.com service:

4. a) Screenshot: allowed use of the following map data: Basic Maps, Hiking Maps, Winter Maps, Geographical Maps and current picture data – Aerial Maps (in each case only for the territory of the Czech Republic), Oblique Pictures, always for further publication as part of the User's own documents, printed leaflets, etc. in the form of physical printouts or electronic documents (e.g. PDF) or audiovisual material (TV, film, video). Adding User's own information (e.g. additional descriptions) is allowed, provided that such information does not materially change the appearance of the map data. However, the Operator does not guarantee that the technical quality of the map data will be suitable for such use.

4. b) Using screenshots of 3D Maps and Panoramic Pictures is not permitted. Panoramic Pictures may solely be used via a link to the Service or using the Mapy API.

4. e) In addition to the conditions defined above, screenshots may also be distributed under the Creative Commons 4.0 (CC-BY-SA 4.0) license, provided the authors and sources are stated under the same license.

For details on the conditions for the use of map data or of other content of the Service, the User is invited to contact the Operator.
